Test Day

I don’t do well under pressure.  Anxiety attacks, nervous jitters, uncontrollable laughter and really, really sweaty palms – I get it all.  So it should come as no surprise that the day Walter and I meet our potential baby’s mama, I’m a nervous freakin’ wreck.

Fine, you want me to back it up.  Obviously.  Having a baby is something Walter and I have been discussing for a while now.  He’s always wanted one, and, I admit, I was on the fence for a little while, but we filed an application a few months ago and...  well…  we met our potential birthmom this morning.  Our potential birthmom that’s pregnant with TWO BABIES.  TWINS!

Okay my leg just started to tremble again.  See?  Nervous wreck.

Rina is her name.  She’s seriously one of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met.  Only 18-years-old.  It’s crazy.  She came here to meet us for the day.  To check us out and make sure we’re a normal couple…  It was kind of a test.  A very stressful test.  A test I probably failed miserably.

Walter – he’s taking Rina to the bus station right now – he’s a bit irritated with me.  I warned him about my stress issues.  I mean, meeting our potential birthmom is a big deal and having a baby is an even bigger deal…  Still, Walter acted surprised and annoyed when I stuck my foot in my mouth on several occasions today.  I couldn’t help it!  Come on – We might be fathers of TWIN BABIES.  I’ve only bought ONE book about parenting and I never made it past the chapter on breastfeeding myths.

Well, I seriously hope I didn’t ruin our chances with Rina today.  She’s going to make a decision soon.  There’s one other couple that Rina is considering...  Hey, maybe she found my nervousness charming.  At least that’s what I’m gonna tell Walter.

So, it looks like Derek has decided to throw Burke’s bachelor party right here at the Emerald City Bar.  How great is that?  It’s pretty awesome that Burke has chosen Derek as his best man.  And it’s pretty crazy that Burktina’s wedding is taking place TOMORROW.  I, for one, will definitely be there, camera in hand.  I cannot miss Cristina walking down that aisle…  Man, THAT is going to be something.

Um.  Wait a second.  Why is Derek is talking to a woman – or rather, a girl?  A very cute girl.  Is that…  Are they…  FLIRTING?!

Something must’ve happened with Meredith and Derek today.  I hope it didn’t have anything to do with the intern exams.  Seems like today was test day for everybody.  Oh man – I DO NOT like the way this chick just smiled at McDreamy.  And I REALLY do not like the way McDreamy just smiled back.  Wait…  Okay, she just walked away.  What the hell was that all about??

The anxiety.  The jitters.  The nervous laughter.  And – yep – the really, really sweaty palms…  Guess what?  They’re all back.

Hey – Walter and Rina just walked in!  I should –
